Eala, Swiatek reunited at Rafa Nadal Academy

MANILA, Philippines — Tennis rivals Alex Eala and Iga Swiatek reunited at the Rafa Nadal Academy on Saturday. In a post on Saturday, the school posted pictures of the two tennis stars, who are both alumnae of the academy. “Feels like yesterday... do you remember the last time?” the academy said in a Facebook post. Last year, Eala and Swiatek each had one win against each other. Eala first defeated Swiatek in upset fashion at the Miami Open, while Swiatek would defeat the Filipina a month later in the Madrid Open. Swiatek also recently hired Nadal’s former coach Francisco Roig, as she prepares for the Stuttgart Tennis Grand Prix later this month in Germany. Apart from Stuttgart, Eala will be taking part in the Linz Open in Austria that begins on Monday, to prepare for the clay season this year. She will also be taking part in the Madrid Open in Spain and the French Open.
